Kid Favorites in NYC: The Vessel and Ice Skating in Bryant Park

IMG_3265

The Vessel in Hudson Yards is one of my favorite buildings that I have ever seen. The architecture is really cool and if you go in the winter time you may get to throw a snowball or two at your unsuspecting parents! Just don’t let the security team see you 😊.

The Vessel kind of looks like an egg and has shiny metal sides that reflect light and appears to look like gold.  It’s all outside and there are lots of steps so if you go in winter like I did dress warmly and wear comfy shoes!

You will need to reserve timed-entry tickets ahead of time. Ask your mom or dad to do that 14-days ahead of your trip. They’re free, but once they sell out, they’re gone. Sometimes they have tickets available same day, if they forget to order.

I also loved ice skating in Bryant Park. I never had ice skated before and this was the perfect place to learn how.  I wiped out so many times, but my Dad helped me get back up and before I knew it, I had completed several laps around the rink.

There are a lot of people on the ice, but other than my Dad most people skated slow and were very nice if needed help. The best part of it though was the hot chocolate!

Ice Skating is free and you can rent skates right there. You should reserve your ice time in advance otherwise you have to wait in a long line or pay an extra “I need to skate now” fee like we did.

What are your favorite things to do in New York City? Let me know in the comments. Maybe I can try them next time I visit!
